Money

The brief was simply to unify the UK's currency, but this felt like an opportunity was being missed.
I felt that more could be done to make money easier to use on a daily basis by playing with the
size, scale, colour and layout of existing notes.

I decided to re-size and scale the notes so that whilst the £50 note was the tallest but narrowest,
the £5 note was the shortest but widest. This makes the process of identifying the correct note that
little bit easier, either when flat in a wallet/purse or even when folded in half. Using distinctive
colours and colour bars on the edges of the notes aided this process further.

Vinyl

Vinyl magazine was a self-initiated brief I decided to create, after feeling their was a need for
a music magazine that set itself apart from the mass produced magazines on the market.
It would be full of beautifully hand crafted pieces of design whereby the content of the article
lead to its design and became almost a piece of art to be treasured. Vinyl magazine had a
die cut front cover, a screen printed Broken Records article and a letterpress MGMT feature.

The Button Box Packaging

Packaging was colour coordinated to represent the material from which the button is made.
Buttons were then individually sewn to show care and attention to detail. All printed on GF
Smiths Cranes Lettra, 100% cotton for a fabric like feel.

Alternatively buttons of a certain material could be brought by weight. In this instance our
material marks are stamped onto 100% cotton sacks with the weight stamped on the
reverse, making sure only non toxic inks are used.

Fifty-six

Throughout the time I spent on placements I learnt a great deal about the industry. I decided
to document my findings in Fifty-Six, the amount of days I spent on the various placements.

Fifty-Six is divided into four sections. The introductory front section, followed by articles on
relevant topics such as work environment, people and duties. Towards the back there is a
day to day diary section and at the back there are some tips on various skill that I picked
up along the way.

Desires

It is important for us all to have a desire, no matter how big or small it may be. It could be achievable
within the next week, month or even year. Desires put drive and passion into our lives, they are what
motivate and inspire us. Think for a moment, what do you want to achieve?

The Bonington Gallery Identity

For years the Bonington Gallery has existed, hidden away within the Bonington building with
no recognisable identity and with little exposure to the wider community.

But it is this secretiveness that has made it so special. The Bonington Gallery is not a mainstream
gallery that attracts people from far and wide, but is a small hidden away gem, that only a fraction
of the community have heard about and been fortunate enough to visit.

The concept behind the identity was therefore to play on the fact that the gallery is a 'hidden' gem
whilst still effectively exposing it to the outside world.

The marque, in time, will become a recognisable symbol of the Bonington Gallery and those who
are intrigued to discover more about the gallery and what it has to offer can do so by delving
deeper into the Bonington brand.

The Button Box

The Button Box is made up of five basic elements that together create a unified look and
feel that distinguishes us from our competitors.

This includes our logo, which incorporates Linotype’s Thorowgood. Four material marques
that represent the different materials we offer. A scale symbol that can be adapted to the
correct weight. Various fabrics to which buttons can be sewn to, in shades of brown,
grey, purple and aqua blue and lastly Futura, our typeface.

Revealed Awareness Campaign

Revealed was an awareness campaign created to reveal the truth about CCTV in Britain today.
Alarmingly we are the most watched nation with an estimated 4.5 million CCTV cameras. The
campaign encourages the public to take action before we become a nation under surveillance.

Primary research was undertaken to locate and plot as many CCTV cameras within a 200 meter
radius of market square. In all, over 150 cameras were located belonging to various sources.
Poster 1 reveals who the biggest users of CCTV are and how many they have installed, leaving
it up to the us, the audience to decide whether they’re really that necessary. Poster 2 analyses
this data and estimates an approximate field of view of all the CCTV cameras found. Not only
does it reveal just how much land mass is actually covered by CCTV, but also the intensity of
which some areas are covered. Could a more efficient system exist possibly, with fewer CCTV
in operation and a lesser chance of it being abused?

Supporting elements include two postcard packs that reveal true opinions of the general public,
a billboard campaign that reveals real CCTV locations and a guerrilla campaign that reveals the
problems with CCTV.
